The leaves are ‘cooked’, then the chlorophyll is rinsed off leaving only the veins or the ‘skeleton’ of the leaf. Next they are dried. Left in their natural color or dyed, the leaves are assembled with floral wire and tape.

The leaves used are mainly magnolia and fig leaves.

Located on the Brumado farm, in Mogi-Mirim, in the interior of Sao Paulo, Brazil, is a group of artisans that work with leaves such as magnolia, avocado, and fig, among others. The leaves are collected the day before production. Mainly deciduous leaves are used, which fall from the trees in a natural renewal process. The leaves are cooked at a high temperature and then washed one by one, with great care, so that the chlorophyll is removed, revealing its veins. The leaves are then dried. They can be left in the natural color, which presents earthy and neutral tones, and can also be lightened and dyed in diverse colors.
